JUNE 2022

www.openoceans.org/web-cams

Stop by the Children's Room on Monday, June 20 for a Juneteenth Flag coloring craft from 2-3:30 pm.

As you know, the National Archives and Records Administration recently released 1950 Census records. Researchers or anyone who is curious about searching for family records may access census images, including population schedules, enumeration district maps and descriptions at the Census website.

HeritageQuest Online is in the process of uploading the data. Users may submit their email address to be notified when their state of interest has
been added. Just login with your library card number to get started.

https://www.ancestry.com/c/1950-census

An Enumeration District was an area that an enumerator (census taker) could completely cover within two weeks in cities and within four weeks in rural areas.

Enumeration District Maps show names of political jurisdictions (counties, cities, townships, and so forth), roads, waterways, and large properties, such as parks, cemeteries, prisons, golf courses, and so forth. In cities, maps may indicate boundaries of Wards and other subdivisions.

https://1950census.archives.gov/search/?county=Middlesex&ed=12-257&state=NJ#

The "Population Schedules" button on the same page, will supply census information (names, families, neighbors, etc.) for the residents living at a certain address at that time (1950).

Media streaming devices are a convenient way to stream media to your TV. The Google Chromecast is a portable and easy device if you want the ability to just “plug and play.” There is more to the Chromecast than just media streaming.

Chromecast can cast your Google Meet meeting to a large screen TV, or you can present your Google Slide show by casting the presentation to your Chromecast device. You can also cast music or mirror your android’s screen to the Chromecast device.

One popular feature of the Chromecast is its ability to cast pictures on your TV. You can use the pictures as a screen saver or share a picture album with family and friends.

For more features available through the Chromecast, visit PCMag.com and read 19 Things You Didn’t Know Your Google Chromecast Could Do.
